After an extensive RFP process that was vetted by NYSERNet's members and two separate committees, one evaluating financials of the deal and the other the technical details, NYSERNet chose Lexent Metro Connect to build its New York Metro Fiber network, also referred to as the Dark Fiber Network (DFN), to cost-effectively meet the customized needs of its member institutions. 

After careful review and due diligence, Hibernia Atlantic selected Lexent Metro Connect as one of its dark fiber providers for the GFN in and around the New York metro area.  Once selected, Lexent Metro designed and constructed a New York metro dark fiber ring across the Hudson River to New Jersey, providing Hibernia’s customers redundancy, security and flexibility. 

After considerable research for an optimal network solution over a five year period, the NYLS team consulted with Lexent Metro Connect. Collaborating with Lexent's experienced engineering teams and the school’s own IT architect with a specialty in the educational sector, NYLS deployed its own private dark fiber network between two of its core educational sites.
